About me

I am a TEFL-certified native English speaker with 7 years of total experience including online and in-person classes. I have extensive experience with Spanish speakers and business English. As an undergraduate I studied cultural anthropology and had a minor in Spanish linguistics. Studying Spanish linguistics helped me learn about the science of pronunciation and even though it was for a different language, I have been able to apply this knowledge to develop tricks and tips for my students learning English. Also, because I have studied and mastered a second language, I understand the challenges language learners face and it helps me empathize with my students.

In my courses I tend to focus on language that will come in practical use for the learner, whether it is for their job, travels, or studies. I have taught English in the United States as well as in Colombia. Currently, I live in Colombia and have been here for almost 6 years.
