Throughout my six years of experience in the education sector, I have helped numerous students to pass their English language assessments. I specialise in creating revision materials, helping pupils to prepare for tests, and encouraging students who struggle with performance anxiety. I can help you develop literacy and language skills that will transfer to any setting, while making learning relaxed and fun.
** About me **
Raised in rural Devon, I spent my childhood balancing my education with extracurricular pursuits before developing a love of humanities subjects. This led me to Oxford University's pre-university course, UNIQ, and subsequently to Exeter University, where I was awarded consecutive Dean's Commendations for my academic work in Theology and English Literature.
It was at university that I met some awe-inspiringly engaging tutors, and decided to give back the gift of learning.
My desire to teach motivated me to volunteer as an English tutor at a school for international students, asylum seekers and refugees, many of whom were isolated by language and culture. The experience taught me the importance of fostering trust when supporting students who come from diverse backgrounds and feel disconnected from their peers.
More recently, I worked for a Shanghai-based tutoring company, where I supported students aged between 4 and 16 with their English studies. I have also worked as a teaching assistant at a secondary school, where I gave academic and pastoral support to deaf students who were studying for their exams.
