My first teaching experience was tutoring student athletes while I attending university. I greatly enjoyed the tutoring experience, but I pursued other career choices after graduating university. It wasn't until I moved to Abu Dhabi, UAE, in 2017 that I decided to revive my teaching career. While living in Abu Dhabi, I would assist students of various levels, backgrounds, and age groups. Typically my students consisted of children below the age of 8, older students preparing for examinations (such as IELTS or SATs), and college graduate students in need of proofreading assistance.
In September 2018, I started to work for an online English school from China. My online students were from various skills levels and age groups (4-18 years old). While working as an online teacher, I learned how to use various teaching methods (TPR, props, and whiteboards) to keep my students engaged and interested in the lesson. I would give my student's guidance by setting learning objectives and goals for them. Furthermore, I would boost their learning self-esteem by providing them with positive feedback when goals and objectives have been met.
After working as an online teacher for a few months, I was offered an English teacher position at a newly constructed learning institute in Hadibo, Yemen. I started working at the institute in December 2018, and I worked there for over one year. While at the institute, I designed English Language courses for students that were based on skill level and learning needs (beginner, intermediate, advanced and business); taught students from different age groups (youth, young adults, and adult); and I wrote, prepared, and submitted weekly lesson plans. As with my early teaching experiences, I would provide student assessments to encourage students and provide students with English language goals.
